The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has briefly halted the mayoral nomination process following confusion surrounding the issuance of two adoption certificates to two UPND candidates.
The District Electoral Officer, who is also the Town Clerk, has since directed the UPND to put its house in order by presenting only one duly adopted candidate sponsored by the party.
Meanwhile, confusion erupted among supporters of one of the candidates backing former Nakambala Ward Councillor Kelvin Muleya, who is contesting for the mayoral position on the UPND ticket.
