The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has lifted the suspension of all political campaign activities in Mazabuka Central Constituency with immediate effect.
According to ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro, the decision follows a review of the prevailing situation conducted in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
The Commission says the review confirmed that all conditions and measures required to ensure a peaceful, secure, and conducive campaign environment have been fully met.
ECZ has since expressed satisfaction that political campaigns can resume in accordance with the Electoral Process Act and the Electoral Code of Conduct.
The Commission has further urged political parties, candidates, their supporters, and members of the public to continue conducting themselves peacefully and responsibly, while strictly adhering to the provisions of the Electoral Code of Conduct.
Campaign activities in the constituency had previously been suspended following concerns over the campaign environment ahead of the Mazabuka Central parliamentary by-election.
