ECZ EXTENDS VOTER REGISTRATION PERIOD

.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has extended the Voter Registration Exercise for a further 15 days, up to November 26, 2025, to provide additional opportunity for all eligible citizens who have not yet registered to do so.

ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis says the exercise, which began on October 13th , officially ends today, November 11, but has recorded a significant increase in turnout compared to the previous update.

Ms Zaloumis says a number of districts have experienced a surge in the number of people registering, a trend the Commission says reflects the growing commitment by Zambians to participate in shaping their country’s future.

She says the extension has been granted following a comprehensive review of field reports and circumstances on the ground, which showed that many eligible voters are yet to register.

Mrs. Zaloumis has explained that the 15-day extension has been carefully accommodated within the 2026 General Election Road Map, ensuring that the overall electoral timetable remains unaffected.

.

She has added that the Commission does not envisage any further extensions beyond November 26, urging all stakeholders to put in extra effort during this period to ensure wider coverage.

Throughout the six phases of the registration process, Mrs. Zaloumis noted, the Commission has worked diligently, with registration centres operating smoothly and effectively across the country.
