ECZ ASSURES NATION ON BALLOT PRINTING AS 25 PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS PAY NOMINATION FEES

.

As Zambia edges closer to the highly anticipated 2026 general elections, the Electoral Commission of Zambia has moved to allay fears surrounding the printing of ballot papers, following the awarding of the contract to UAE-based Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing.

Concerns raised over potential disruptions due to instability in the Middle East have been met with reassurance from ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro, who says the contractor has alternative production facilities across Africa and Asia, should the need arise.

He maintains confidence that the process will proceed without interruption.

Meanwhile, the Commission has disclosed that 25 presidential hopefuls have so far paid their nomination fees, with payments still open.

However, ECZ notes that only the initial 25 candidates will have their nomination processes of supporters facilitated within their respective provinces, while those who pay later will be required to transport their supporters to Lusaka at their own cost.
