DW, DIAMOND TV LAUNCHES ECO AFRICA IN ZAMBIA

Deutsche Welle (DW) and Diamond TV have officially launched Eco Africa, a sustainability-focused television program, under the theme “Big Steps Towards a Better Future: Developing Renewables in Zambia.”

Originally co-produced by DW in Germany and Channels TV in Nigeria, Eco Africa now welcomes Diamond TV as a key production partner.

The program, airing weekly, showcases inspiring ideas from Africa and Europe, focusing on sustainable living and technological responses to the climate crisis.

The launch event brought together individuals committed to sustainability and featured a panel discussion hosted by Eco Africa’s Malama Mukonde. Panelists tackled key issues surrounding challenges and opportunities for a sustainable energy transition in Zambia.

Head of Environment, DW, Vanessa Fischer expressed excitement about the collaboration, with Diamond TV as a strong co-production partner, supporting Eco Africa as a forward-looking format.

She also highlighted key questions such as strategies to build resilience and how Eco Africa promotes constructive journalism that resonates with local communities.

Meanwhile, Diamond TV’s Chief Visionary Officer (CVO) Costa Mwansa emphasized that the partnership with DW provides a valuable opportunity to expand coverage on climate change-related issues.

“We have been looking for ways to increase our content on sustainability, and this partnership with Eco Africa presents the perfect opportunity to do so,” Mwansa stated.

With this collaboration, Eco Africa has become a crucial platform for sustainability discussions, inspiring Zambia and the broader region to take bold steps toward a greener future.
