Dry spells have hit Eastern Province, causing panic among farmers that this year’s yield may be poor.

Among the concerned is Chieftainess Msoro of Mambwe District, who describes the situation as a threat to national food security.

The traditional leader says the devastating ripple effects of climate change are being felt in the region, hence the need for government intervention to mitigate the looming food crisis as most crops have wilted.
