The SADC observation mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is pleased with voting that is underway in that country.

Speaking when he addressed media at the Institut Dela Gombe polling station in the capital city, Kinshasa, Head of SADC Mission and former Vice President of Zambia, Enock Kavindele, has expressed satisfaction in the manner digital voting equipment is utilized to manage the election.

Mr. Kavindele has urged eligible voters across the country to participate in the election that SADC is hopeful will be free and fair.

Incumbent President Félix Tshisekedi is seeking a second term in a race that is contested by renowned businessman Moïse Katumbi.

Others are Martin Fayulu, Denis Mukwege, Adolphe Muzito and Delly Sesanga.

44 million voters of around 100 million population are expected to cast their ballot in the General Election, amid ongoing tension in eastern DRC.
