In a landmark achievement for Zambian sports journalism, 20-year-old Cosmas Chongo Mulenga of Diamond TV has been honored with the Journalist of the Year award in the Electronic Media category at the 2024 Zambia Annual Sports Awards. He was up against Victoria Linosi of Crown TV and Chansa Kunda of ZNBC in the same category.
This national recognition follows Mulenga’s recent international acclaim as one of the top three global finalists in the Young Reporters – Broadcasting category at the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2024, with his selection marking the highest achievement by a Zambian journalist in the competition’s history.
Mulenga’s accomplishments not only highlight his personal dedication but also underscore the growing prominence of Zambian storytelling on both national and international stages.
Others recognized at the ceremony include Barbara Banda as Sportswoman of the Year, Mercy Chipasula as Young Sportswoman of the Year, and Carol Kanyemba as Coach of the Year.
