
President Hakainde Hichilema has urged members of the newly appointed Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments to carry out their duties diligently, reflecting the nation’s diversity and exercising prudence in both time and cost management.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Chairperson Judge Christopher Mushabati and other members, President Hichilema says that the work before them is a delicate but vital national function that must embody the will of the Zambian people.
He commended the appointees for accepting to serve, noting that their selection followed recommendations from fellow citizens and represents various backgrounds, skills, religions including Muslim representation and gender balance.
The Head of State reminded them that time is a valuable resource, urging timely delivery and efficient use of public funds to allow savings to be redirected to other pressing national needs such as education.
President Hichilema saye his government is committed to supporting the committee, saying the decision to constitute the Technical Committee followed calls from civil society for wider consultation on constitutional reforms.
And the President has also sworn in the Human Rights Board and Commissioners.
