Failure to adhere to compensation terms has landed 23 year-old Philip Sakala of Ndola’s Mwange B area in a defilement case after defiling a 15 year-old girl of the area.
The father to the minor only identified as Mr. Ngosa complained that the daughter on two occasions last year slept out of the house and was found at the residence of the 23 year-old, and when pressed she said fear of being beaten led her to leave the house.
The father disclosed that the minor was taken to Kan’gonga Mission Hospital, where she was examined and treated.
He says later, the victim’s and the defiler’s families met and agreed that the victim’s family would be compensated with the amount of K5000, which was to be paid in K500 installments per month.
The accused party is allegedly said to have failed to fulfill the agreement.
Mr. Ngosa says the matter was later taken to Masala Police station where a case of Defilement of a child was recorded.
Copperbelt Commanding officer Peacewell Meemba confirmed that the reports further stated that a docket was opened, and the suspect charged with three counts of defilement.
