The Drug Enforcement Commission DEC has arrested three Directors of the National Housing Empowerment Fund NHEF for alleged money laundering involving K36 million.

The commission has also siezed 18 motor vehicles and froze several bank accounts belonging to the suspects.

The said Directors have been identified as Kamphembele Ngulube , Margaret Mabingo and Lusuntha Ngulube who have also been arrested for allegedly obtaining the said money by false pretences.

It is alleged the three suspects who are shareholders of NHEF jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown between 1st January and September 30, 2022 with intent to defraud obtained K36 million from members of the public on the pretext that NHEF had plots for sale in an area called Riverdale City situated in Lusaka’s Leopards Hill when in fact not.

The suspects have since been released on bond pending court appearance.
