DEC ARRESTS MINISTRY OF HEALTH EMPLOYEE FOR STEALING MILLIONS

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has formally charged and arrested Francis Nsenje, an employee of the Ministry of Health, for theft, fraudulent false accounting, and money laundering.

In a statement provided to Diamond News, Mr. Nsenje, who served as a project manager at the Ministry of Health, is accused of acting in collaboration with unknown individuals to embezzle substantial funds. Between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2024, he allegedly stole K4,044,622.46 and USD11,707.40 intended for various health projects, including the procurement of medical supplies and equipment.

The allegations also include facilitating fraudulent loan payments. Mr. Nsenje is accused of authorizing advance payments of K482,000.00 and K799,082.00 to Valvo Oil Investment Ltd, a company linked to one of his associates. These payments were misrepresented as funds sourced from his associates, but investigations reveal they were withdrawn from a Project Account of the Ministry of Health.

The DEC has pledged to continue its investigations and bring to justice all individuals implicated in the case. This incident underscores the commission’s commitment to addressing corruption and safeguarding public resources.

Authorities have urged members of the public to report any information regarding financial misconduct to help curb corruption and restore public trust in key institutions.
