Zambian Sports Journalist Cosmas Chongo Mulenga has made history by finishing second in the world at the 2024 AIPS Sport Media Awards that were held in Rabat, Morocco, last week, under the Young Reporters – Broadcasting category.
This follows the world rankings released by the Awards organizers, the International Sports Press Association (AIPS).
Regarded as the highest international accolade for sports journalists in the world, the AIPS Awards attracted over 2,000 submissions from across the globe.
Mulenga’s exceptional achievement marks the highest level any Zambian journalist has ever reached on the global stage.
Competing against thousands of entries from across the globe, Mulenga’s piece emerged second, behind Kenya’s Tracy Onchoke who emerged winner.
This global recognition follows his recent National recognition where he was also named Best Broadcast Sports Journalist of the Year for 2024 and same category nomination for the Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) to be held in Zimbabwe this weekend.
His recognition places him among the world’s elite sports journalists and is a moment of pride for Zambia, signaling the country’s growing influence in international media circles.
The AIPS Awards continue to set the global benchmark for sports journalism excellence, and Mulenga’s success is expected to motivate a new generation of storytellers in Zambia and beyond.
