COPPER QUEENS PROMISED OUTSTANDING DUES BEFORE WAFCON

.

Government has assured the Copper Queens that all outstanding payments and allowances will be settled before they begin their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign, to ensure the team heads to Morocco fully focused on its quest for a maiden continental title.

Speaking during the team’s official send-off luncheon, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe says Government will clear all outstanding dues, including arrears dating back to 2022, before Zambia kicks off its campaign.

He says the move fulfils Government’s commitment to the players, adding that the same process will also be undertaken for the Chipolopolo.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Keith Mweemba says the Copper Queens are ready for the continental event, having prepared through the FIFA Series in Brazil, the Four Nations Tournament and the COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The Copper Queens are in Group C alongside Nigeria, Malawi and Egypt, with the tournament set to run from 26 July to 16 August in Morocco.
