In what seems to be a trend of car break-ins, unknown people on Monday March 6, 2023 broke into a car and stole from therein money amounting to K1, 000, 000.
The victim who works for Yatu Equity Business Company identified as Ken Phiri aged 30 of Lilayi area in Lusaka says he withdrew the money from East Park Mall and secured it in the car in a laptop bag on the passenger’s seat.
The victim later walked into a restaurant but upon return, he could not believe what his eyes were seeing, a missing laptop bag containing someone’s ‘retirement package’.
Police officers who were alerted rushed to the scene and their initial investigations have indicated that the passenger door was tempered with using unknown objects.
Meanwhile, in another ‘grand theft’ incident, unknown people in Kamwala South on March 7 at around 12hrs stole a Mercedes Benz ML-Class grey in color bearing registration number ABR 5520.
Brief facts are that the victim only identified as Gloria aged 42 of Libala residential area went to visit her relative in Kamwala South near Asa Farm where she parked the vehicle just off the yard and went inside the house leaving the engine running with keys in the ignition.
According to her, she took only a few minutes and when she went back to her car, she saw her vehicle being driven away by a male person with a female in the front passenger’s seat.
The victim immediately called for a taxi that was nearby to give chase but they lost sight of the vehicle in Kabwata Site and Service area.
Inside the vehicle, she had an infinix cellphone of undisclosed value and K7, 000 cash money.
This is according to a statement made available to Diamond News by Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale.
