The Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) has called on the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to resolve the challenge of congestion at Kasumbalesa Border Post.
CTPD Researcher Trade and Development Emmanuel Muma says the marooned trucks are impeding trade between Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mr. Muma adds that businesses are incurring loses as trucks carrying high value perishable goods are stuck in long static queues.
He further notes that such bottlenecks to trade must be addressed in order for Zambia to maximize benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
