The Constitutional Court is today June 17,2026 expected to deliver Judgement in a petition challenging the eligibility of Socialist Party presidential candidate Dr. Fred M’membe and his running mate, Dolika Banda to contest the 2026 General elections.
A seven panel of the court will deliver the judgment at 15:00 hours after hearing submissions from parties involved.
In this matter, the petitioner Isaac Mwanza alleges that Ms. Dolika Banda does not possess a full Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent.
He argues that Dr. Fred M’membe’s presidential nomination should also be declared invalid because the presidential ticket is joint and inseparable under Article 110 of the Constitution.
