Collum Coal Mine in Sinazongwe District has been ordered to pay an additional 30, 000 kwacha for the relocation of residents of Siamugande and Sikalabula village.
Over 30 families are on the verge of being relocated after the company bought their land at K2 per square meter, to pave way for a new mine shaft.
But at a consultative stakeholders meeting held in the community, Sinazongwe Member of Parliament Gift Sialubalo expressed concern at the behavior of the mine, which he says has been acting without full wide consultation with all stakeholders.
The community now demands a top up of funds from the initial K2 per square meter before they relocate.
