The Church, Civil Society Organisations and Human Rights Defenders on the Copperbelt Province are calling on government to immediately facilitate for a new National Referendum for the inclusion of the expanded bill of rights.

Copperbelt Pastor’s Fellowship Chairperson Reverend Hendie Bwalya says the groupings have noted that there are lacunas in the 2016 amended constitution that need to be reviewed hence the need for an immediate National referendum.

And Mufulira Central Anglican Church Priest Fr. George Njobvu has appealed to government to ensure that the referendum is conducted before 2026 General elections.

He says the Church, CSOs and other stakeholders on the Copperbelt Province are willing to work with government to sensitize the public on the importance of a good constitution in the governance of the country.
