The Mazabuka High Court has condemned a 35 years old man to hang until pronounced dead after he mercilessly shot dead his brother in-law between 15 and 16 June 2022 in Choma District, Southern Province.

High Court Judge Willy Sinyangwe found Pecos Simakwama of Choma District guilty after overwhelming circumstantial evidence from state witnesses indicated that he shot Shaddy Hamaimbo in cold blood.

When the matter came up for judgment on Thursday 23rd March, Judge Sinyangwe in his judgment stated that despite the fact that no one saw the accused person shooting the deceased, the evidence of the two teenagers whom he chased after gun shots were heard implicated him.

The Judge further established that Simakwama received a sum of K1, 500 via mobile money immediately after news of the death of his brother-in-law, and that he fled the district but was apprehended by the deceased’s son.

He thus condemned him to hang until pronounced dead by a qualified health professional.
