Chilanga District has recorded confirmed cases of cholera, prompting health authorities to heighten surveillance and preventive measures across the area.
Chilanga Town Council Public Relations Officer Luyando Sikazwa says a total of ten cases have so far been identified through routine monitoring, with the majority originating from Game Sangalala, which has since been declared a hotspot.
Mr. Sikazwa, has assured residents that the situation remains under control and that no deaths have been recorded.
He says the local authority, working with cooperating partners, has stepped up community sensitisation and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities to curb further transmission.
He has further appealed to cooperating partners, the private sector, non-governmental organisations and well-wishers to support the response through the donation of chlorine, water treatment chemicals and other protective supplies, while urging residents to remain calm and strictly adhere to recommended preventive measures.
