Former National Democratic Congress President, Chishimba Kambwili, has apologized to the Ndola High Court for his failure to appear before the court in case of contempt of court saying that he was misled by his legal team.
This is in a matter in which NDC faction former secretary general, Bridget Atanga, sued Saboi Imboela, Chishimba Kambwili, and Ackson Kaonga to stop ‘masquerading as party leaders’ until the full determination of the court.
Atanga contended that having seized to hold the temporary position of interim president of the NDC and not being among the list of office bearers with the Registrar of Societies, Kambwili had no mandate to transact any business of the party.
Addressing the court Dr. Kambwili apologized that his actions to appoint then spokesperson person of NDC Saboi Imboela as party Vice president and Ackson Kaonga as National Chairman was done after his legal team informed him that the court had stayed the injunction from Atanga.
Ackson Kaonga also apologized to the court, saying he accepted the appointment of party chairman from Mr. Kambwili as he was not aware of the court cases, but he stepped down once he learnt of the confusion.
Judge Mary Mulanda has reserved her ruling on the two apologies.
