Criminal gangs in Chipata Compound have allegedly broken into a cosmetics shop and stolen goods worth about K20,000.
The incident occurred in the early hours of January 30, 2026, when criminals broke into a shop belonging to Catherine Muchenga and stole items including lotions and wigs.
Ms. Muchenga has told Diamond News that she received a phone call around 05:00 hours informing her that her shop had been broken into and everything stolen.
In another incident, a resident was attacked in the same area and robbed of goods he had ordered for resale.
Residents, including Mr. Zulu, say Chipata Compound is no longer safe, as gangs are now attacking people even in broad daylight.
Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the incidents and says investigations are ongoing.
