Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has directed security agencies in Chingola to intensify efforts to combat a recent surge in criminal activities.
Speaking during a meeting with stakeholders and security officials in the district, Mr. Matambo emphasized that Chingola, which experienced the infamous gassing incidents in 2020, must not be allowed to fall into another period of civil unrest.
The minister expressed concern over the increasing attacks on businesspeople, warning that such acts would not be tolerated.
He assured the public that additional police officers would be deployed to the district to reinforce security.
To address logistical challenges faced by law enforcement, Mr. Matambo revealed that measures are being implemented to resolve transportation issues for security personnel.
