Chief Mukuni of Southern Province has testified against opposition Economic and Equity Party (EEP) leader Chilufya Tayali who accused him of being behind gassing incidents between 2019 and 2020 for the purpose of getting the, then, opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema out of prison.
Testifying before Magistrate Silvia Munyinya, Chief Mukuni says he was mentally stressed to be accused of masterminding the gassing cases.
He says, since the accusations were made, his safety has been compromised.
But during cross examination, the defence legal team asked if the traditional leader had come with a medical report to show that he suffered some emotional stress as a result of the allegations, but could not provide medical proof.
In this matter, Mr. Tayali stands charged with an offence of harassment using electronic communication, contrary to the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act Number 2 of 2021.
