Musicians Moses Ng’andwe, popularly known as Chester, Felix Phiri, comedian Winston Ngosa, alias IDC Light Comedy, and 13 others are expected to appear before the Kalabo Magistrate’s Court today as their trial in a riotous behaviour case continues.
The 16 accused persons were arrested on August 5, 2026, and are facing charges of riotous behaviour, while two of them are also charged with possession of offensive weapons. They earlier pleaded not guilty before Kalabo Resident Magistrate Vincent Moze.
Lawyer Wisdom Nyirenda says 14 of the accused persons are currently out on bail after meeting conditions set by the court. However, two of the accused remain in police custody despite having their bail documents signed, as they are reportedly being investigated in connection with other alleged offences said to have occurred in Kitwe.
Mr Nyirenda says the court granted each accused person cash bail of K5,000 and required two sureties in their own recognisance. Following the approval of the sureties and completion of the bail process, 14 of the accused were released from custody pending the determination of the matter.
14 of the 16 accused persons are expected to be before the Kalabo Magistrate’s Court today, September 7, 2026, when the matter comes up for continued trial proceedings.
