CEC EMPLOYEES GET 14% PAY RISE AFTER SUCCESSFUL MUZ TALKS

CEC Group’s unionized employees have been awarded a 14 percent salary increase following the successful conclusion of collective bargaining negotiations with the Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ).

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at Garden Court in Kitwe, marking the end of negotiations between the power utility firm and the workers’ union.

Speaking at the event, CEC Chief Operating Officer George Kang’ombe welcomed the timely conclusion of the talks, noting that the agreement provides a strong foundation for the year ahead.

Mr. Kang’ombe stressed the need for sustained productivity and disciplined execution in 2026 to support revenue growth and enable the company to continue delivering value to its stakeholders.

Meanwhile, MUZ Deputy General Secretary John Silungwe described the outcome as a positive development for workers, saying the salary adjustment will help improve the livelihoods of employees amid prevailing economic pressures.

The agreement underscores CEC’s commitment to employee welfare and labor stability, with the company recognizing that a motivated and secure workforce remains key to operational resilience, service reliability, and long-term sustainable value creation.
