The Radiation Machine at the Cancer Diseases Hospital in Lusaka has totally broken down, leaving patients stranded.

A check by Diamond news at the facility found several patients who expressed displeasure over the situation.

A 37-year-old woman admitted to the hospital says she now has breast cancer relapse, due to inconsistencies in the treatment.

She shares the excruciating ordeal of having lost her first breast and is on the verge of losing another since the disease has advanced to stage four.

In March, Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) indicated that it had concluded the process of engaging a contractor to service the machines, which has finally broken down.

Most of the machines are obsolete and needs replacement.
