BROTHER KILLED OVER ADULTERY COMPENSATION MONEY, POLICE HUNT SUSPECT

A family dispute over money paid as compensation for an adultery case turned deadly after a 54-year-old man was fatally assaulted by his stepbrother in Mudimba Village in Chadiza District, Eastern Zambia

Eastern Province Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba says Police have launched a manhunt for Noah Phiri, who allegedly accused his elder brother, Ackvas Banda of misusing funds through excessing beer drinking which came from adultery compensation of his wife before beating him severely in April.

Banda later died in hospital after vomiting blood and bleeding internally from the fists he experienced.

Phiri allegedly assaulted Banda, causing severe injuries, including a suspected fractured shoulder.

Despite hospital treatment, Banda’s condition worsened and he died on May 7 at Chadiza District Hospital after vomiting blood.

Police were alerted by a tip-off and intercepted the burial.

A postmortem is scheduled for May 9 at St. Francis Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities pursue the fleeing suspect.
