A forensic ballistic expert has testified before the Lusaka High Court that a bullet obtained from the garments of murdered Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director General, Guntila Muleya, matched cartridges from an AK47 rifle that is an exhibit in the case.
Isaac Kalimanshila told High Court Judge Vincent Siloka that his analysis showed matching characteristics between the bullet and the cartridges, indicating they were discharged from the same firearm.
He explained that the firearm’s unique impression on the cartridge leaves individual prints, which were traced back to the exhibit AK47 rifle.
Mr. Kalimanshila added that two empty cartridge cases allegedly collected from the crime scene, along with one bullet recovered from the deceased’s body, were submitted to the forensic laboratory for examination by the arresting officer.
In this case, systems engineer Samuel Dokowe, his younger brother and police officer M’Thusani Dokowe, IBA accountant Francis Chipyoka, and police officer Caleb Zulu are charged with the murder of Mr. Muleya, which allegedly occurred on July 23, 2024, in Njolwe, Lusaka.
