A Zambia Army soldier, Nigel Mwaba, is facing a life imprisonment sentence for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Dr. Tasila Tembo, in 2020.
The Lusaka High Court is expected to deliver its judgment today, January 15, 2025.
Mr. Mwaba has been in custody since the incident.
According to witnesss statements, Mr. Mwaba allegedly killed Dr. Tembo after an altercation in a car.
Her body was found decomposed and covered with leaves in the Nanking Army Training Centre in Mikango area.
If found guilty, Mwaba risks serving a life imprisonment sentence. However, his lawyer has argued that the case is one of manslaughter, not murder.
