Former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo is expected to hear his judgment at the Kabwe Subordinate Court. He stands accused of unlawful assembly at a restaurant in Kabwe, where he had stopped to buy a pie on his way from Luanshya to Lusaka and greeted a few supporters.
In this matter, Mr. Lusambo is jointly charged with Patriotic Front Central Province Chairman Billy Sichamba, Saidi Chibwana, Matthews Changwe, and Martin Simfukwe. They are charged with unlawful assembly, contrary to Section 74(1) as read with Section 75 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that the accused persons, in November 2023 at Brimas in Kabwe town centre, conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause people in the neighbourhood to reasonably fear a breach of the peace.
The matter is before Magistrate Gloria Chipasha, who on September 25th, 2024, adjourned the judgment to October 29 as it was not ready.
Mr. Lusambo, the former Kabushi Member of Parliament, is expected to be transported from Mwembeshi Prison by Zambia Correctional Service officers. He is currently serving a jail term for other offenses for which he was convicted. His co-accused persons in this case are residents of Kabwe, Central Province.
