Street vendors in Lusaka’s Central Business District are paying K1, 500 to suspected cadres for trading places.
This revelation was made to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Gary Nkombo and his entourage during the commemoration of World Clean-up Day.
The traders who were told to not trade today because of this activity have complained that they have lost out when all they were trying to do is survive.
Mr. Nkombo has since ordered for the removal of the traders and for sanity to be brought back to the CBD.
And scores of Lusaka City Council workers and other leaders have participated in the cleaning exercise.
