The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has revealed that it is in talks with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to assist in facilitating the safe evacuation of Zambian international footballer Kelvin Kampamba from Libya.
This follows reports of gunfire exchanges between rival factions in Tripoli.
In a statement released by Principal Public Relations Officer Nchimunya Ng’andu, the Ministry confirmed that Kampamba, who plays for Al Madina SC in the Libyan Premier League, is safe and has agreed to return to Zambia.
Government has since called on the public to remain calm as efforts to evacuate the Zambian international continue.
