DRIVING SCHOOL EXPOSED IN DIAMOND DOCUMENTARY BANNED

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has revealed the banning of a driving school that was exposed in a corruption scandal involving the issuance of driving licenses, as revealed in a recent Diamond TV documentary.

Speaking during the agency’s quarterly press briefing, RTSA Director and Chief Executive Officer Amon Mweemba confirmed that several RTSA officers have also been suspended pending investigations into the matter.

Mr. Mweemba emphasized that the agency remains committed to delivering its services in a fair, transparent, and efficient manner.

Meanwhile, he has expressed concern over the high number of fatalities and injuries resulting from road traffic accidents.

According to Mr. Mweemba, more than 8,000 accidents were recorded in the first quarter of 2025, resulting in 498 deaths.

He has disclosed that AI-powered cameras are now in use mounted on vehicles to detect non-compliance with traffic regulations and offenders will be instantly charged through this new system.

Some motorists interviewed have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step that will help reduce traffic violations and road inconveniences.
