Police in Ndola are investigating a possible murder after a badly decomposed body was found in a sewer manhole in the town center on Tuesday afternoon.
The body was discovered around 16:30 on April 22, 2025, by 35-year-old Isaac Phiri, an excavator operator for Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company.
He and his team were clearing a blocked sewer line on Chimwemwe Road when they saw what looked like human remains stuck inside.
Police say the body was tied up, which suggests the person may have been killed before being dumped in the sewer. A white Samsung phone was also found in the clothes, and police are keeping it to help find out who the person was and contact their family.
Because of health risks, the remains were buried at Kawama Cemetery, but the area is still being kept secure for a possible postmortem if the person is identified.
