Voting is underway in Luangwa District for the Council Chairperson by-election.
Dozens of people formed up queues as early as 05:00 hours at Luangwa Primary School polling station waiting to cast a vote for their preferred candidate once the station opened at 06:00 hours.
The five candidates contesting the seat include UPND’s Arthur Lungu, Patriotic Front’s Lawrence Shaba, Socialist Party’s Christopher Njovu, Leadership Movement’s Geofrey Mumba and an independent candidate Julias Sikasote.
There are over 14, 000 registered voters in Luangwa District.
