POLICE SUMMON MAMBILIMA MP JEAN, LAWYER CELESTINE MUKANDILA

Luapula Province Police Command has summoned Mambilima Member of Parliament Jean Chisenga and lawyer Celestine Mukandila in connection with alleged misconduct during the nomination process for the Kawambwa Central parliamentary by-election.
Luapula Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi confirmed that an investigation was conducted into the matter, and a report was subsequently submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Following a review, the DPP authorized further action, leading to the summons issued against the two individuals.
While police have not disclosed the specific allegations, the development comes amid heightened political tensions surrounding the upcoming by-election. Authorities have assured the public that the case is being handled in accordance with legal procedures.
However, in response to the summons, Counsel Celestine Mukandila has strongly condemned the move, labeling it as an attempt to intimidate him and the Mambilima MP. Mukandila maintained that their actions during the nomination process were fully lawful and within the legal framework governing electoral activities.
“This is nothing but intimidation,” Mukandila stated. “We followed all legal procedures, and there was no misconduct on our part.”
As the case unfolds, political stakeholders and the public will be watching closely to see how the matter progresses. The Kawambwa Central by-election has already drawn significant attention, with multiple parties vying for the seat.
