President Hakainde Hichilema has with immediate effect suspended the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mrs. Lillian Siyuni from her duties.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Antony Bwalya, the president’s action is in line with recommendations from the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC).
Mr. Bwalya says the suspension of the DPP is in the exercise of the powers vested in the president, pursuant to Article 182 clause 3, article 144 clause 2, and 144 clause 3 of the Constitution of Zambia.
The president has since appointed Katongo Ian Waluzimba as acting Director of Public Prosecutions for administrative convenience, in the exercise of the powers vested in him, pursuant to Article 181 of the constitution of Zambia.
