The latest Auditor General’s Report, on the government payroll audit, between the year’s 2017 and 2O21, has revealed that the Ministry of Health irregularly spent over K70 million, in respect of 5,342 employees.

Some of the said employees were deceased, while others had been fired.

According to the report, as of the 31st of July 2022, the funds in the voided accounts had been transferred to the salaries account at Zanaco Bank, but, had not been refunded to the treasury’s single account at the Bank of Zambia.

Aside from the said irregularities, the report also revealed that the Ministry paid salaries in amounts totaling to K323 million, to some ghost workers.
