Former President Edgar Lungu wants three constitutional court judges to recuse themselves from hearing a petition challenging his eligibility to contest the 2021 and a future election.
The three judges are constitutional court President Margaret Munalula, her Vice Arnold Shilimi and another Judge Kawimbe Mapani.
Mr. Lungu alleges that the cited judges have an interest to serve.
The court is expected to hear Mr. Lungu’s recusal application on October 3, 2024.
This comes a few days after President Hichilema suspended three other constitutional court judges, who were supposed to hear the same eligibility case.
