President Hakainde Hichilema has relieved Zambia Army Commander Sitali Alibuzwi of the duties with immediate effect.

This follows the expiry of his contract.

Lt General Alibuzwi has since been replaced by Major General Geoffrey Zyeele who has now been promoted to the rank of Lt. General.

The President has also appointed Major General Luswepo Sinyinza as Deputy Army Commander.

Speaking during the swearing in Ceremony at State House, President Hichilema has urged the newly appointed army Commander to be professional in their course of duty and ensure to help the country in addressing the economic challenges caused by drought.
