The Family of the deceased lawyer Nsama Chipyoka, who was shot dead by a Police officer in 2020, has sued the state demanding over K1.185 million compensation for negligence.

In a statement of claim filed before the Lusaka High Court, family representative Chaste Nsama says the State is vicariously liable for the loss and damage suffered by the deceased and his dependents under the Law.

Mr. Nsama met his fate during President Hakainde Hichilema’s appearance at Force Headquarters on 23rd December 2020 when a police officer fired in order to disperse a crowd.

The family is now demanding for damages for loss of expected life, loss of dependency by the family and contiguous amounting to a total of One Million, One Hundred and Eighty Thousand Kwacha.

Mr. Nsama is survived by his four children.
