The Lusaka High court has set 12th September 2022 as the date for hearing the matter in which former Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo, and his Kwacha counterpart, Joseph Malanji are seeking an order to call for fresh nominations and challenging the refusal by ECZ to accept their nominations.
When the matter came up for hearing before the Lusaka High Court, the state applied to be joined to the matter.
Lawyer Makebi Zulu is optimistic the matter will be concluded before the by-elections slated for next week 15th September 2022.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe has clarified that the judgment delivered by the constitutional court on the petition by Bowman Lusambo and Joseph Malanji does not mean the duo are eligible to recontest the Kabushi and Kwacha by-election.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia is expected to give an update on when the ballot papers will arrive.
