Two people of Kankoyo Township in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt have been found dead.

The two have been identified as Peter Mwansa, a male aged 20, and Cleopatra Chikopa, a female aged 18 years.

A check by Diamond News found Mwansa’s body hanging from a tree whilst the body of Chikopa was laying on the ground about 30 meters away from the former’s body.

The father of the late Mwansa, Martine Mwansa has told Diamond News that the last time he saw his son was on Wednesday morning at around 08:00 hours when he left home.

Mr. Mwansa says he only received a call this morning that his son has committed suicide in a nearby sugarcane farm.

And Agness Chibuye, the mother of the late Chikopa narrates that she left her daughter at home last evening when she went to buy food from the market but upon returning, she did not find her.

She adds it was only this morning when she was informed by her neighbours that her daughter had been found dead in a nearby sugarcane farm.

The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited to Ronald Ross Hospital Mortuary.

Police are yet to give a detailed report over the matter.
