The World Football governing body FIFA has lifted the suspension it had imposed on the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).

Zimbabwe can now participate in upcoming World Cup qualifiers set to commence on 13th November, 2023 until 14th October, 2025.

Zimbabwe was suspended in 2022 due to interference of the Zimbabwean government in the running of the game.

Following the suspension, the country’s senior national team could not participate at the ongoing COSAFA championship in South Africa.

A normalization committee has since been appointed with immediate effect to run the daily activities of ZIFA, amongst other administrative duties such as review of statutes and electoral statutes to make sure they are in accordance with FIFA statutes and requirements.

Zimbabwe, will now be among the 54 member nations of the confederation of African football (CAF), set to fight for the available 9 spots at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
