A one month, three weeks old male baby has died after its parents fell on it during a fight.
Details from the police are that on Monday 3rd July, 2023 around 01:00 hours, Shadrick Chanda aged 50 and his wife, 45-year-old Rebecca Mbikiloni, both of Reuben village in Shiwangandu District of Muchinga Province had a marital dispute and when the fight ensued, the couple fell on the child who was asleep and died instantly.
Moments later the irate husband and wife discovered the infant had died and instead opted to inform a neighbor who reported the matter to the police.
Upon realizing the gravity of the matter, the couple opted to flee their home and their whereabouts are currently unknown.
Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer Kaunda Mubanga has told Diamond News, that a manhunt has been launched to arrest the fugitive husband and wife.
The remains of the child are in Chinsali General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
