Stakeholders in Luapula Province have called for justice to prevail in a matter in which former Provincial Minister, Derricky Chilundika and others have been charged and arrested for the alleged illegal mining of Sugilite.

Vision Network Foundation Executive Director, Bishop Maxwell Luchile, says the fight against corruption must not be selective, as such, whoever is caught in the web should be held accountable, regardless of status.

Bishop Luchile adds that stringent measures in the management of national resources are required because that is the only way to stamp out corrupt elements that assume they have a right to loot what belongs to the state.

Earlier this week, Police arrested three people for unlawful possession of Sugilite, a precious mineral highly sought after by Asian markets and has landed the former Luapula Province Minister behind bars.
