The Constitutional Court has ordered the state to have 32 police officers who were dismissed retained on the payroll.
This follows a consent judgement which was entered between the Attorney General and the said police officers.
In the consent Judgement the court has also ordered that the police officers be paid all their withheld salary arrears with interest from the date of filing the petition.
In this matter, the police officers among them commissioners, superintendents and detective chief inspectors have sued the state seeking among other reliefs, an order of the court to be retained on the payroll and paid their withheld salary arrears until such a time they are paid their pension benefits in full.
The petitioners were dismissed on September 28th, 2022, by President Hakainde Hichilema in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the public service number 35 (C).
