Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has honoured a man of Chadiza District, in eastern Zambia, who fought and killed a leopard with his bare hands after it strayed into his farm in 2022.

Joseph Banda 46, has been given an award of the President’s medal for gallantry.

Speaking to Diamond News in an interview, Mr. Banda says he was ready for anything, when he saw the beast attacking his livestock.

Others honoured include Muzala Samukonga with the President’s Insignia of Meritorious Achievement for his exploits in athletics, draught – fide master William Chinzewe with the President’s Insignia of recognition, Veteran Journalist, Mpundu Mwape with the order of distinguished service, 2nd division.
